Music?Conforming?to?Virtue
指合于仁德的音樂(lè)?！暗乱簟笔侨寮覙?lè)教觀(guān)念中的理想音樂(lè)，它反映社會(huì)的倫理秩序和人們的德行修養(yǎng)。在國(guó)家穩(wěn)定有序的基礎(chǔ)上，圣人確定了六律（黃鐘、太簇、姑洗、蕤賓、夷則、無(wú)射）的音高，調(diào)和了五聲（宮、商、角、徵、羽）的比配，由此產(chǎn)生的音樂(lè)就是“德音”，它代表了雅頌之聲。德行是人性的根本，德音能教化民眾，使之順應(yīng)天性、昭明道德。而一個(gè)人如果達(dá)到合于“德”的境界，就能體會(huì)到天地之和，從而保持內(nèi)心平和，促進(jìn)社會(huì)倫理關(guān)系總體趨于和諧。
Music conforming to virtue reflects the standard of social morality and the high levels of people's moral character. It is thus the ideal type of music for music education upheld by Confucianism. When the state was stable and orderly, sages established six different rhythms of?huangzhong?(黃鐘),?taicu?(太簇),?guxian?(姑洗),?ruibin?(蕤賓),?yize?(夷則), and?wuyi?(無(wú)射), and modulated the arrangement and ratio of musical notes on the five-tone scale of?gong?(宮),?shang?(商),?jue?(角),?zhi?(徵), and?yu?(羽) (roughly corresponding to 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 in the numbered musical notation), representing music conforming to virtue. Such music epitomized the court hymns and eulogies. Morality is believed to be the root of humanity, and music conforming to virtue educates and edifies the populace, adjusting their behavior to the heavenly way and enhancing their moral integrity. One who has entered the realm of virtue experiences harmony between heaven and earth, enjoys inner peace, which thereby promotes an ethically harmonious society on all fronts.
